When it comes to classic holiday songs, Donny Hathway’s “This Christmas” is among the summit. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the festive anthem (December 9), an official video has been released by Rhino Entertainment.
The video was animated by Fantoons and drawn by famed cartoonist Lonnie Milsap. In the clip, Hathaway takes a stroll through Chicago’s streets, passing by people in the community who are in the Christmas spirit.
He arrives at his evening concert and performs the iconic song. Following his performance, he returns home, where his wife (Eulaulah) and daughters (Lalah and Kenya) greet him at their Christmas tree.
“I’m thrilled for all the people who have loved this song forever and for all those who are just discovering this treasure,” Lalah Hathaway said in a statement. “YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT!”
