KIRBY brings awareness to gun violence in her new video “Superpower” featuring D Smoke. Directed and produced by Thrice Cooked Media, the visual depicts the grieving process in laying a loved one to rest.
The beautifully shot video takes place in her hometown of Memphis, Tenn. She finds solace and communion with her family in a way that’s equally poignant, yet comforting.
The unfortunate issue hits close to home for KIRBY. “I lost a family member to gun violence in 2019, so when I say Black Lives Matter just know it hits different. Rest easy young king. Thank you to everyone who helped me tell my loved one’s story,” she shared on Instagram.
The singer/songwriter was recently highlighted on Rated R&B’s 11 R&B Artists to Watch in 2021.
