Mary J. Blige made a trip to the HOT 97 studios to talk with Laura Stylez and Ebro of Ebro in the Morning about the release of her new album The London Sessions and moving on from her title as the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul.”
Blige spoke on spending time in London, recording the album which featuring the single “Right Now,” as well as tracks such as “Doubt” and the Sam Smith penned “Therapy.” The recording of the album and documentary for The London Sessions took place over the course of three weeks, calling this album the change that she needed as she had begun feeling “stuck and stagnate” with creating the same R&B sound. The documentary that accompanies the album features Mary J. candidly sharing her story and her creation process, giving you a glimpse of what she describes as her life “raw.”
The London Sessions LP is available everywhere now. Be on the lookout for the documentary in January 2015.
