Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson has been getting a lot of publicity after losing over 80 pounds. In 2010, she became a spokesperson for Weight Watchers. Most recently, Hudson opened a Weight Watchers Center named after her.
The Renaissance woman cut the ribbon on Tuesday (September 27) at the grand opening of the Jennifer Hudson Weight Watchers Center in her hometown of Hyde Park, in Chicago.
According to Weight Watchers, this is the first time that they have placed one of their brand ambassadors’ names on a center.
“I am honored that Weight Watchers has put my name on a center in my hometown of Hyde Park in the city of Chicago,” said Hudson.
“Weight Watchers has helped make my new lifestyle a reality by teaching me the tools I needed to be successful. I hope this Center and my story continue to serve as an inspiration to others to begin their own journey toward a healthier lifestyle.”
Weight Watchers has also pledged to donate a portion of their revenue to Hudson’s Julian D. King Gift Foundation, which was created after the tragic murder of her nephew, mother, and sister.
“I am also so grateful to Weight Watchers for giving a portion of this center’s proceeds to my Foundation,” stated Hudson.
Despite everything Hudson has been through, she remains strong and giving back to her community.
In other news, Hudson released her second album, I Remember Me, in March. The album includes writing and production by Alicia Keys, Salaam Remi, Rich Harrison, Ester Dean, Polow Da Don, Hit-Boy, Diane Warren, and more.
