If the summer of 1996 had a theme, it would have to be this week’s Throwback Thursday song.
Originally hitting the radio airwaves on April 6th, 1996, the Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo” quickly became a hit peaking at number 1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 charts, and number 18 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs Chart. The song was released under Jermaine Dupree’s So So Def label, on an album titled So So Def Bass All-Stars.
While mainly considered a one hit wonder, the song did later become a sample track to on Pitbull and Lloyd’s 2007 song “Secret Admirer,” and again in the So So Def Remix of Mariah Carey’s “H.A.T.E.U.”
