Last night, Beyoncé interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN’s “AC360” aired on television.
The interview was recorded on August 10 hours before Beyoncé took the stage at the United Nations General Assembly to perform her song “I Was Here” from her “4” album. During the interview, Beyoncé talked to Cooper about her involvement with World Humanitarian Day, which is on August 19.
When Anderson asked Beyoncé about “I Was Here” — which she is dedicating to the acknowledgement World Humanitarian Day –Beyoncé said:
It says, ‘I want to leave my footprints in the sands of time’ and it basically is all of our dreams, I think. And that’s leaving our mark on the world. I feel like we all want to know that our life meant something. It’s a message she hopes will resonate and inspire acts of kindness around the world.
Beyoncé added, “We all have our purpose, and we all have our strengths…it feels so wonderful to do something for someone else. And I think for the U.N. to want to include the whole world was something important, and I feel like that’s what I represent.”
Beyoncé’s “I Was Here” performance was recorded in front of a live audience and will be released as a music video on August 19.
