Yesterday (Dec. 23), Frank Ocean released a new song called “Wise Man,” originally recorded for Quentin Tarantino’s movie, Django Unchained. Unfortunately, the song did not make the cut for the movie’s soundtrack, so Ocean treated his fans to the tune via Twitter. “Django was ill without it,” he tweeted.
In a recent interview with Pitfork, Tarantino explained why the track did not make the cut: “Frank Ocean wrote a fantastic ballad that was truly lovely and poetic in every way, there just wasn’t a scene for it. I could have thrown it in quickly just to have it, but that’s not why he wrote it and not his intention. So I didn’t want to cheapen his effort. But, the song is fantastic.”
Frank Ocean has had a good year this year. His debut album, Channel Orange debuted at number on the Billboard 200 and he was nominated for six GRAMMYs.
