Jhene Aiko has put in a lot of work on her debut album, “Souled Out.” However, before releasing her first major project she plans on releasing an EP titled “Sail Out.”
In an interview with Rap-Up TV she told them her new EP serves as a bridge between her 2011 mixtape “Sailing Souls” and “Souled Out.”
“I’ve recorded over twenty-something songs and at the end of mixing everything, it was like we have two albums basically,” Aiko told Rap-Up TV. Instead of trying to figure out what we want to put on the album and [what should] wait, I came up with releasing an EP in between now and the album release.”
The six-track offering will be released on November 12. It will feature guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Ab-Soul and Vince Staples.
“A lot of the songs on the EP are more fun and me dealing with lighter topics,” Aiko said.
