At the end of October, the soundtrack to “The Best Man Holiday” made its way to retailers. Now to celebrate the release of the sequel film, which hits theaters tomorrow – this week’s Throwback Thursday comes from the soundtrack of the 1999 prequel “The Best Man.”
Maxwell’s “Let’s Not Play the Game” served as the lead single from the film’s soundtrack. Backed by an acoustic guitar and the beat of drums, the R&B crooner discovers his lover wasn’t too interested in his love and affection – only his dinero (cash).
While “Let’s Not Play the Game” worked well for Maxwell’s tender voice, it didn’t help the song climb the charts. It only peaked at No. 55 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Nonetheless, “Let’s Not Play the Game” is still a kick-ass jam.
