Earlier this year, Kelis dropped two tracks — “Jerk Ribs” and “Been Given A Morning” — after an absence from the music scene since her 2010 album, “Flesh Tone.”
Now as 2013 nears a close, the “Bossy” artist announces her sixth studio album will arrive in stores on April 28. “FOOD” will be produced solely by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek and will be released under UK independent label, Ninja Tune.
“I’m really happy to be partnering with Ninja Tune on my new record. This is the album I’ve wanted to make for a long time and I want the team around me to be as excited and energetic about it as I am. I’m also very happy to be working with some of the most creative people in the industry,” she says via press release.
The forthcoming album is expected to be “a soul record that’s as raw and alternative as it is classic.” It will also be the singer’s “most frank and vulnerable vocals to date.”
