As we continue to get into the Christmas spirit, we will countdown each Throwback Thursday before Dec. 25 with a classic holiday tune.
To begin our festive Throwback Thursday series, we venture back to the year 1970 when Donny Hathaway released his timeless Christmas tune “This Christmas, which he co-wrote with Nadine McKinnor.
On “This Christmas,” the crooner’s deep, yet inviting voice could put the grumpiest person into the holiday spirit.
Since sharing the classic Christmas song with the world, it has been covered by several artists from all genres of music, including The Temptations, Gloria Estefan, Christina Aguilera, Chris Brown, and most recently, Mary J. Blige.
However, no matter how many artists put their own special touch on “This Christmas,” Hathaway’s version will still always be a fan favorite.
