Traveling with her baby bump and her pregnancy attire clothed in Saint Laurent, the sophisticated multi-platinum recording artist Ciara made multiple stops with the press on Tuesday.
Promoting her partnership with Degree Women and forthcoming Grammy After-party performance on January 26, Ciara chats with host Marc Lamont Hill on HuffPost Live spilling beans about the recent happenings in her career and personal life.
Pregnancy confirmed:
After many allegations from fans and commentators, Ciara loosens tight lip and confirms that she is indeed expecting. Now being at least five months along, Ciara just may take the crown for being the best at hiding her baby bump. “It really is a blessing. It’s the most exciting time in my life. I’m really excited, like a little kid.”
Ciara says that she does know the baby’s gender, but will not reveal it just yet. However, she did say that her fiancé Future got what he wished for. Even though this hints that it is probably a boy, Ciara still won’t budge on a confirmation of gender.
Janet Jackson Comparisons:
Embarking on almost a decade in the music industry, Ciara still admires colleagues who came before her. She comments on wanting to work with Janet Jackson and how it would be a dream come true. “I don’t know if the dream is just really unreal, but I really would love to work with Janet still. I think that would be amazing.”
Ciara embraces the essence of Jackson’s style in her work through her influence by the great icon so much that she is often compared to the legendary entertainer. “I never try to replicate what she’s done, but I’ve learned over the years that the comparisons are somewhat inevitable, but however I take them as a compliment because she is Janet.”
Respect for Beyoncé:
Being the spokesperson of Degree Women Deodorant and its DO:MORE campaign, Ciara talks about her respect for women in her industry who do more and work hard. The 28-year-old singer discusses her appreciation for Beyoncé’s work ethic and how it inspires her as an entertainer. “I have a lot of respect for her. I respect any woman that works hard and gets success from the hard work they put in to it. You can only get inspired when you see other women like yourself striving to achieve their goals.”
