Double-threat actress and singer Tatyana Ali is entering the ring again in music with her new five-track EP “Hello.”
It’s been a 16 year stretch since Ali released her official music debut with her 1998 “Kiss the Sky.” Why so long of a break? In her short film introducing her new effort Ali says, “I stood out for so long, get so lonely.” “I just wanted to blend in, be normal, have a friend,” she laughs. With fulfilling a void that has been missing from her life that only music could satisfy, Ali vulnerably reintroduces herself.
“They say that the body regenerates every seven years,” says the 34-year-old Brooklyn native in her short film. “Every seven years you become an entirely new human being. You’re not even you anymore.”
Perhaps, this is why she says “Hello” to the present and goodbye to the past. Ali comes back easy with a light effort with no features or big hit producers. She compiled this effort, full of life lessons, independently and from the heart.
