Candice Glover won over many hearts as a contestant and winner of season 12 of “American Idol.” By winning the singing competition, Glover earned a record deal with 19 Entertainment/Interscope Records.
Immediately following the competition, Glover’s debut single “I Am Beautiful” was released on iTunes and her album, “Music Speaks,” was available for pre-sale. Originally scheduled to release on July 16, 2013, the album was eventually pushed back for unknown reasons.
Seven months later, Glover is ready to deliver her debut album to the world. “Music Speaks” is set to release on February 18. As a method to generate more buzz for her project, Glover has released snippets of songs from her new album.
“Music Speaks,” composed of 12 tracks, features an acoustic version of “I Am Beautiful,” “Cried” and her cover of The Cure’s hit song “Love Song,” which she performed on “American Idol.”
Speaking on the inspiration behind her album title, Glover says, “It comes from my favorite quote [by Hans Christian Andersen]: ‘Where words fail, music speaks.’ Being so shy and insecure in the past, I wouldn’t say a lot. I wouldn’t speak; I would just be off in the corner. But there was always this one song that would explain exactly how I felt. So I feel like when you’re scared to say how you feel, music speaks [for you]. So that’s where I got that from.”
