Mariah Carey brings fabulousness to the Breakfast Club morning show on New York’s Power 105.1.
Appearing fashionably late swinging her hair behind her shoulder and rocking her dark shades, Carey chats with Charlemagne the God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy to chit-chat about “American Idol,” new music and balancing her work and home life.
American Idol:
Carey subliminally discredits her decision to join American Idol as a panel judge, so much so that she wishes to “press delete” in that moment of her life—for a clear reason of course.
“I wasn’t happy there because I felt like I couldn’t be real.” Carey explains that she wanted it to be more about the contestants and their talents, but instead it was more about a gimmick and the jokes. “I was hoping to be more of a mentor for the people on the show…they chose to go another direction, which felt very reality TV.”
New Music:
Carey talked about the several push backs, which delayed new music from her forthcoming album. Yesterday (Feb. 12), Carey released her new single “You’re Mine (Eternal)” along with the video for the mid-tempo track.
She revealed that R&B sensation Trey Songz appears in her new video as the lead man. Songz will also be featured on the remix to “You’re Mine (Eternal),” which is expected to drop Friday on Valentine’s Day.
Balancing Work and Home Life:
The 43-year-old singer comments on the hands-on approach that she takes with her twins. “Unfortunately, I have to have nannies, but I am very hands-on…it’s so unfortunate you guys can’t see the real me and what is the most important…the top priority for me is the kids.” She opens up about the busy lives her and her husband Nick Cannon led and jokingly admits how he sometimes makes decisions without her.
