R&B’s underrated crooner Anthony Hamilton enjoyed incredible success with 2011’s “Back to Love,” which spawned two Grammy nominated singles “Pray For Me” and “Best of Me.” The North Carolina native hopes earn more musical recognition and make more soulful sounds on his new album with the help of few big name producers.
Hamilton told BET.com that he’s working with Timbaland, Salaam Remi and 9th Wonder. He’s also working with today’s popular artist and producer, Pharrell. “We haven’t been able to get our timing together, but we’ve been going back and forth trying to connect and we definitely still got the synergy going,” he said.
Along with hitting the studio with the latter hit-makers, the “Better Days” artist reconnecting with producer Mark Sparks, who he hasn’t worked with since his 2005 studio effort “Soulife.” He wants their musical reunion to bring back his signature sound. “It’s important to keep people on their toes, keep ’em guessing and keep ’em excited, like I like the way Beyoncé will go and do one of the biggest records you ever heard and then she’ll do one of the grimiest records you ever heard, so with Mark Sparks especially I want to go back to [the sound on] some of my old stuff, that raw and edgier sound.”
A release date or title for the album has not been announced yet.
Hamilton’s last album “Back to Love” debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 and No. 3 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album sold 65,000 copies in its first week.
