Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin is a prime example of an artist with longevity.
During an interview at her private birthday celebration, Franklin mentioned that she is working on new music with Andre 3000 and Babyface. “Babyface is working on the tracks,” she said.”And I think Andre 2000 – is it two or three? 3000 is going to be doing some of the tracks with him.”
Franklin first announced that she was working on her new album at the end of last year. She mentioned that her next project would be a concept album.
“It’s just re-working some things that were very, very good and certainly chartworthy and sold a lot of records,” Franklin said. ”They’re records that, musically, I respected and that I liked a lot and that I would love to have one go-’round with. I aspire for musical excellence. I have very high standards where music is concerned, and I’m looking for something I haven’t done, something that you haven’t heard and something just absolutely smashing.”
Franklin’s new album is expected to drop later this year.
