We keep the ball rolling with our March Throwback Thursday theme “Unsung Female Voices of the 80’s” with Miki Howard.
After scoring two top 20 R&B albums (“Come Share My Love,” “Love Confessions”), her powerful voice continued to resonate beautifully in the ears of her followers when she released her 1989 self-titled album.
Her soulful cut “Love Under New Management,” the second single off her self-titled release, made its way to No. 2 on the Hot R&B Singles chart. The Nick Martinelli-produced track didn’t earn her No. 1 success like the album’s lead single “Ain’t Nuthin’ in the World.” However, it still made an impact on her self-titled album reaching No. 4 on the R&B albums chart, her highest charting album there.
