Here are five reasons you should admire the mastermind they call Pharrell Williams.
1. Leader of Musical Diversity, Commercial Appeal
Williams has an extensive catalog not only in length, but in width as well. What do I mean by this? Not only does he have a long list of credentials, but his credentials span wide across a number of different genres as well. His funk-rock/hip-hop band N.E.R.D. formed in 2001, can attest to his multi-genre repertoire. Williams has immersed himself in the pools of R&B, pop and rock amongst others.
His ability to explore various genres has made him widely marketable to different audiences. Williams wears commercial appeal well granting him access to multiple platforms, ultimately leading him to the Hollywood sector. This pasture opened up a field where he would craft one of the most successful soundtrack hits to date, leading him to his first Oscar nomination.
Speaking of the Hollywood sector, not only does Williams produce/create music for albums and movies, he does so for awards shows and even late night television as well. The multi-talent composed music for the 84th Academy Awards with famous composer Hans Zimmer and composed new intro music for late night show “Chelsea Lately” in 2012.
