The Virginia Beach native is quite a sustainable fellow. He’s a proactive enthusiast in the ‘go green’ movement and incorporates it as much as he can in his day-to-day, busy life. “My mission is to recycle as much plastic possible in my lifetime and beyond in the form of high quality products,” says Pharrell in an interview with Interview Magazine.
The creative mastermind transforms going green into an attractive and appealing trend. His environmental efforts start with his investment as partner and brand-ambassador with Bionic Yarn, an eco-textile brand that creates high performance “smart fabrics” from old plastic bottles. Williams says that his creative endeavors are inspired by technology and style.
Williams transfers his eco-friendly efforts to his shoe line with adidas converting ocean debris into reusable fabric using them as shoelaces. Continuing on his sustainable trek, Williams used his technological advanced style to create commemorative shirts made out of post-consumer plastic bottles for NBA Green Week.
