R&B newcomer CJ Hilton pays special tribute to the great Marvin Gaye with his remake of “Distant Lover” and his special dedicated song, “Modest.”
As a rising R&B star, Hilton admires those who paved the way and made a stairway to get him thus far in his career. His new R&B era flavor brings a revolutionary and fresh sound to the soulful 70s hit “Distant Lover” by Marvin Gaye. His crooning cover demonstrates how wonderful it can be to hear a remake by a gifted talented artist producing the feelings and memories of your favorite old-time hits.
In addition to his “Distant Lover” cover, the Baltimore native created a special track to help us relive the 70s Gaye-dominatd era much further. Hilton’s Gaye-dedicated track, “Modest,” shows the singer’s mature vocals and talent. The smooth, classical track is bathed by Hilton’s creamy, sultry adlibs.
Being a son of a gospel vocalist, the 25-year-old has a natural soulful ability. The J Records signee has worked with soulful talent Raphael Saadiq co-penning Saadiq’s Grammy-nominated track “Never Give You Up” from his 2008 “The Way I See It” album. More of Hilton’s songwriting, production and vocal talent can be witnessed from his “Sextape” mixtape released this past January.
