As Sebastian Mikael’s new single “Forever,” continues to make its presence felt on urban radio (No. 30), he reveals more details on his debut album “Speechless.”
He tells ESSENCE.com that “Speechless” is a “really soulful album” and tells fans what they can expect from the forthcoming project. “It’s really about my entire story and my journey.”
In the midst of talking about his album, he announced that a duet with Teyana Taylor called “Made For Me” will appear on his album. Also, he says his next single “For You” will feature rapper Rick Ross.
The Swedish-Ethiopian artist says what sets him apart from other R&B newcomers is “not trying to follow whatever trend is hot at the moment. I’m just trying to do something that I feel is timeless, to bring back a sound that I miss hearing.”
Later in the interview, he cities Sade Adu as an artist that inspires him to create music. “Sade. I listen to her all the time,” said Mikael. “She inspires me with her honesty and emotion and realness. She tells a story and I feel like she sings it the way she would say it.”
