Six-time Grammy-winning songstress Toni Braxton is set to star as Darlene Love in OWN’s first TV film, “My Name is Love: The Darlene Love Story.”

The Oprah Winfrey Network announced last Friday plans to produce its first TV movie, “My Name is Love: The Darlene Love Story.” In their announcement, the network revealed it recruited multi-talent Toni Braxton as the film’s lead title role. This new TV movie is one of the many new projects the network has in store for this upcoming quarter.

“Coming off of our most-watched quarter in network history, we are excited to get to work on these new scripted projects,” said Erik Logan, president of OWN. “By diversifying our programming, we are also growing our audience and these new projects put us in a great position to take the network to the next level.”

“My Name is Love: The Darlene Love Story” is executive produced by Oprah Winfrey and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville. The film tells the story of 1960s iconic musician Darlene Love and the exciting events in her momentous life. The real Darlene Love is also the film’s executive producer, making the dramatic movie that much more captivating and thrilling.

“My Name is Love: The Darlene Love Story” will premiere on the OWN Network this December. Meanwhile, satisfy your anticipation for Darlene Love and catch Braxton in her own memoir story, “Un-Break My Heart,” released May 20.
