Cheers to John Legend! Eight months after releasing his fourth studio album, “Love in the Future,” the soulful offering is now certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
According to reports, Legend’s album has sold 511,484 copies in the United States. The album debuted last September at No. 4 and pushed 67,949 copies in its first week of sales. During that time, the “Green Light” artist didn’t have a blazing hot single. However, he continued to promote the album.
From his “Made To Love Tour” last fall and late-night television performances to his spring tour “The All of Me Tour: Intimate, Acoustic and Stripped Down,” Legend showed the world that he wasn’t going to abandon his new project because of low first-week sales.
In addition, the surprising success of his No. 1 single “All of Me” played a huge role in propelling the sales of “Love in the Future.” His next single “You & I (Nobody in the World)” could help push the album to platinum status before the year ends.
John’s “Love in the Future” album rests at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 after 38 weeks.
