We end this month’s Throwback Thursday theme “When They Were Younger” with Aaliyah’s debut single “Back & Forth.”
Released in 1994, when Aaliyah was age 15, “Back & Forth” served as the lead single off Aaliyah’s first album “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number.”
Penned and produced by R. Kelly, “Back & Forth” became an international hit. It peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles & Tracks chart and Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40. It also peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Outside of the U.S., it reached No. 2 on the Dutch Singles chart and No. 7 on the Canada Top 50 Singles chart.
