Rising R&B artist Adrian Marcel recently interviewed with Fuse enlightening fans on his forthcoming debut album and what music he wants to revive in the genre of R&B.

Marcel first gained his fan base in 2013 with his first mixtape “7 Days of Weak” consisting of a musical offering about heartache and pain. The singer wooed listeners even more with his recent follow-up “Weak After Next” impressing even the hardest critics in the business. What makes this Oakland, Calif. native stand out among his peers is his different approach and willingness to be display vulnerability.

“I think we’ve gotten so caught up in trying to be hard and gangster and invincible, and that’s not true,” says Marcel. “We feel the same way as women do. We hurt just as bad. I’ve had great love and it was the best, and I’ve had heartbreak and it was horrible. I’ve grown from it.”

Now with a respectable amount of buzz surrounding the Bay Area artist, Marcel feels that listeners have had a chance to gain an appreciation for his music and who he is as an artist. Not only did his first two mixtapes give listeners confidence in his music, it also gave Marcel confidence in himself and now he’s ready to put out his debut album “GMFU.”

“GMFU, of course, is sort of like the full story,” explains Marcel. “It’s almost like the two mixtapes were trailers and this is the movie.”

The jazz influenced singer also says that he wants to bring back blues to R&B. The singer influenced by Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughan says, “What I feel that I’m bringing back to R&B is more of a blues side. I want to bring back that blues.” We know that Marcel has an old soul by heart and will be a trend setter for his musical generation (hence the infamous hairstyle). We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve for his debut album “GMFU.”
