The wait is over and Jodeci is back with a soulful track standing against violence with the support of Atlanta rapper B.o.B.
It may not be the usual track expected from R&B supergroup Jodeci, being that they’ve spoiled us with sensual records for well over a decade (“Come and Talk To Me,” “Forever My Lady” and “Feenin'”), but the group is singing a powerful record for a cause and with a purpose. On their new mid-tempo track, “Nobody Wins,” the group sings against domestic violence and protests that “nobody wins when we fuss, fight and argue.”
“Domestic violence has always been an issue in relationships, but because of the caliber of being people charged recently, it’s being brought to the forefront,” says Dalvin from Jodeci about the song’s meaning. “It’s definitely something people are going to listen to because domestic violence should not be tolerated in any situation, not just between men and women, but people in general.”
In today’s society where violence seems to be the unjust solution to almost everything, this song couldn’t have come at a better time. The song’s release is accompanied by a compelling black and white lyric video showing couples who are stuck in unhealthy relationships where they say they’re leaving but never do.
After an 18-year departure from the music industry, Jodeci has come back with powerful music for a time such as this. Listen to “Nobody Wins” below and if you or someone you know is in a domestic violence situation please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).
