Dawn Richard reacts to the Baltimore uprising with new song “Genocide.”
Reminding us that we need to stand together, the former Danity Kane member takes time to deliver a political message with her new release. In this incredibly powerful and important song, Richard shares the current struggle race is facing in the country. With a number of black men killed in a short amount of time, it is hard not to want to join the fight. Richard joins in the fight in a beautiful and artistic way.
Giving you the same sound and production value she has become known for, what stands out are the lyrics. “We’re living in the new genocide” and “Lights going down, the heart loses sound, the guns are too loud, we need a crowed” are just some of the intense words sung by Richard.
Dawn continues her Black Era with the release of her new music video, “Calypso” and a concert in London on June 2nd.
