A number of singers will salute legendary singer-activist Nina Simone with a special tribute album.
Due on July 10, Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone will serve as the soundtrack for the Netflix documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone?, due June 26. The tribute album will consist of 16 memorable songs from the bluesy songstress.
Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Jazmine Sullivan, Robert Glasper, Grace, Andra Day and Simone’s daughter Lisa, among others, will be a part of the album. Hill recorded six songs for the compilation album including the lead single “Feeling Good.”
The documentary will include rare concert footage and her most memorable songs, along with diaries, letters and interviews with Nina’s daughter, friends and collaborators, to tell the story of this beloved singer and black power icon.
