BET’s 10th Black Girls Rock! ceremony aired last night (April 5.) Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, the annual event highlights the accomplishments of exceptional women of color who have made outstanding contributions in their careers and who stand as inspirational and positive role models in their communities.
This year’s honorees included music icon Gladys Knight (Living Legend Award), Rihanna (Rock Star Award), actress Amandla Stenberg (Young, Gifted and Black Award), television producer/writer Shonda Rhimes (Shot Caller Award) and actress Danai Gurira (Star Power Award), to name a few.
Of course, the night wasn’t complete without some outstanding performances from some of our favorite R&B acts including Brandy, Monica, Jazmine Sullivan, Lauryn Hill, Andra Day, Corinne Bailey Rae, Marsha Ambrosius and Ms. Gladys Knight.

Brandy rocked the stage with her new emotional single “Beggin & Pleadin.”
