The late Prince didn’t just have an impact on everyday music fans, but also on fellow icons such as Stevie Wonder. Yesterday (April 21), the 65-year-old musician spoke with CNN’s Anderson Cooper about his friend Prince.
During the interview, an emotional Wonder shared his feelings about the news of Prince’s death.
“It’s a heartbreak and I was shocked,” Wonder said. “I didn’t believe it as I find it so hard to believe. It’s a heartbreak to lose a member of that army of love.”
Wonder also opened up about how Prince inspired him as a musician.
“He was a great musician. He loved music. He loved playing his instrument,” Wonder said.
“He could play classical music if he wanted to. He could play jazz if he wanted to, he could play country if he wanted to. He played rock, you know, he played blues. He played pop. He played everything.”
