Cheers to The Weeknd! Billboard has revealed the nominees for its 2016 Billboard Music Awards. The Canadian singer makes an impressive lead with 19 nominations in 16 categories including Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album and Top R&B Song. Adele is nominated for eight awards, while Chris Brown and Rihanna are nominated for three awards each.
According to Billboard, the Billboard Music Awards finalists are “based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music.” The awards are based on reporting between March 23, 2015 through March 17, 2016 and Billboard chart dates April 11, 2015 through April 2, 2016.
Hosted by Ciara and Ludacris, the 2016 Billboard Music Awards will air live at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 22.
