All good things must come to an end. Monica, who had been signed to RCA Records since her Miss Thang era, has ended her contract with the company.
The 36-year-old singer confirmed the news on her Instagram.
“I want to say thank you to RCA and their ENTIRE STAFF… for more than half my life we have been family. It’s been an honor to be on the same contract for two decades. I grew up with you all. So many moments that changed my life because of your belief in me… Peter, Keith, Tom Corson, Carolyn, Trevor, Theola, Russ, all of Radio all of the street teams soooooo many of you have been influential in the woman and artist I’ve become.”
She continued, “Our contract may have ended but the love is FOREVER …… There’s a level of respect and dignity that has come with the ALL the hits we’ve made. To Clive Davis.. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!! I know most your grey hairs were because of me in my teenage years LOL but you believed I could sing any genre & with you I did… Love Forever.”
Monica’s latest album, Code Red, was released nearly a year ago via RCA Records. It debuted at No. 27 on the Billboard 200, and 36,000 copies were sold in the first week.
There’s no telling what Monica’s next move will be. However, she has been a regular guest co-host on The Real lately.
