Willow Smith reflects on the 2016 Presidential Election on her new track “November 9th.” On the 90-second tune, which Smith wrote on the day of the election, she offers word of encouragement for those who are upset about the election results.
“Baby girl, I know you’re tired / Don’t let the world put out your fire / Take my hand and you will see / Sadness and anger aren’t everything,” she sings.
Smith is working on her second album, which will follow 2015’s Ardipithecus.
“I originally had 26 songs for the album,” she revealed to Billboard. “Then I looked at it and I said, ‘You know, nowadays the kids have a short attention span, so I think I should go in the teen area.’ So I cut it down to 14 [songs],” said Willow. “I usually don’t plan when I’m going to do certain things, so it’s taking longer than I expected. But it’s coming. It’s done.”
