Emerging singer K. Avett has released a video for her new track “The Matter (What Are We Here For?),” directed by Pedro Escobar.
Filmed in New York City, the video follows the life of a single father who is trying to take care of daughter, while trying to turn his life around.
“This song came from an intense need to speak positivity to, not only my black brothers and sisters, but any group of people feeling marginalized — to remind them and myself that what we offer is unique, beautiful, desirable and often imitated,” Avett told Rated R&B. “Although it sometimes feels as though our culture is embraced far more than we are, we’re a force to be reckoned with.”
“The Matter” is the lead single off Avett’s upcoming sophomore album, which currently does not have a title.
