K. Michelle is finally back on the R&B scene with her bumpin’ new single “Birthday.” On the Hitmaka-produced cut, K is pulling out all of the stops for her man like it is his birthday.
“It’s ya birthday, baby what you wanna do? / Got some b*tches, got some pretty bitches comin’ through / Know I said I’d never do it, but I guessed I lied / Roll a L, Pour a drank, fuck it, let’s get high,” she sings.
It’s been a long road for K. Michelle’s fourth album, tentatively titled The People I Used to Know. If you’ve been following her journey, K. Michelle has described this album as one of healing and cleansing from people that she felt like have wronged her in the past. You can read more about what this album means to K. Michelle below:
Really can’t explain the amount of overwhelming excitement that has takin place in the past 3 months. God needed to show me that certain people aren’t who they pretend to be. Certain people want certain things from you. I saw some people just want money, some people just want camera time, some people just want the shine. I watched how I was quietly getting myself together and people started to count me out one by one, because I wasnt of use to them(So they thought) I needed that. Everyday phone calls from every day friends became non existent because they felt I couldn’t do much for them anymore. So they thought. I really have my second business, my twins are FINALLY on the way, I really have a new tv show, a play, 2 TOURS,a top selling drink in over 14,000 stores and growing, and A BRAND NEW ALBUM. I needed them to count me out so I could CUT them out.

Earlier this week, K. Michelle revealed she was having trouble deciding on what song to release as a single. “The label wants me to pick ONE song out of 50 something songs,” she tweeted early Sunday morning. “It’s just way 2 much pressure. I just can’t do that right now.”
With that said, can probably expect another song to drop in the near future.
