Two of music’s biggest names The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar join forces for a powerful new track called “Pray For Me.”
“Who gon’ pray for me? / Take my pain for me? / Save my soul for me? / ‘Cause I’m alone, you see / If I’m gon’ die for you / If I’m gon’ kill for you / Then I’ll spill this blood for you,” The Weeknd sings on the chorus.
Kendrick delivers a masterful verse, “Life a livin’ hell, puddles of blood in the streets / Shooters on top of the building, government ain’t relief / Earthquake, the body drop, the ground breaks / The poor one with smoke lungs and Scarface.”
“Pray For Me” is lifted from Marvel’s Black Panther soundtrack, which arrives on February 9 via Interscope Records. The album, curated by Top Dawn Entertainment, will also include contributions from R&B stars SZA, Khalid, Anderson.Paak and Jorja Smith.
This is The Weeknd and Kendrick’s second time collaborating on a song. They first worked together on The Weeknd’s “Sidewalks” off his Grammy-winning album, Starboy.
Black Panther hits theaters on February 16.
