The wait is over! Toni Braxton has released her eighth studio album, Sex & Cigarettes, on Def Jam Records.
The short-and-sweet project consists of eight tracks including the singles “Deadwood” and “Long As I Live.” Braxton hopes her new album will inspire women.
“It’s about girl empowerment, but at the same time, I’m dying inside because the guy has moved on,” Braxton told US Magazine. “Sex and Cigarettes [is] the next step for sexy and for my sound. I think as an artist you have to push the envelope even further and that’s what I think I did with this album. I think my fans are really going to like it.”
Sex & Cigarettes is Braxton’s first solo album in eight years. It is the follow-up to her 2010 project, Pulse, which debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200. In 2014, she released a duet album with Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds called Love, Marriage & Divorce, which won Best R&B Album at the 57th Grammy Awards.
