Trevor Jackson has released his new LP, Rough Drafts Pt. 1, on Born Art/EMPIRE.
According to Jackson, Rough Drafts was inspired by the idea of being a work in progress and that as humans we are all aspiring to become the best or final version of ourselves.
The 15-track offering — preceded by “NightTime” and “Apocalypse” — features guest appearances from inspirational rapper Lecrae (“All I Am”) and Jackson’s brother Iyn Jay (“27:17” and “Anakin”).
Rough Drafts is the follow-up to Jackson’s 2015 mixtape, In My Feelings.
He is currently supporting Justine Skye on her Ultraviolet Tour, which kicked off this week in Washington, D.C.
Jackson has an exciting year ahead of him. Aside from his role in Freeform’s Grown-ish, which was renewed for a second season, Jackson will also star as Youngblood Priest in the upcoming remake of Superfly. The film, directed by Director X, is produced by Joel Silver and rapper Future. It is set to premiere this summer.
