Tank’s ‘When We’ Enters Top 20 at Urban Radio

After topping Urban Adult Contemporary radio with his sexy single “When We,” Tank is looking for the same results on urban radio.

With a total of 1,821 radio spins, the steamy tune entered the top 20 on the hip-hop dominated radio format at No. 19 on April 9. In just a day, the bedroom banger has moved up to No. 18 (April 10).

The song debuted on urban radio back in early January after its massive success on Urban AC radio. Last month, Tank released an official “When We” remix and an accompanying visual featuring Trey Songz and Ty Dolla $ign. Before receiving remix treatment, the song became a certified gold-selling single for the R&B General.

“When We” is close to 22 million streams on Spotify, while the remix is near 4 million streams.

Leon Thomas Shares New Song ‘PLW’

Leon Thomas celebrates the power of women on his new single “PLW.” Short for “pretty little weapon,” the sharp guitar solo hears Thomas praising the sophisticated swag of his special lady.

“She’s a high heels killer, with the moves like Thriller / Only five-star dinner, she’s a sometimes sinner,” he sings in his amazing falsetto.

“PLW” is the third offering from Thomas’ forthcoming EP, Genesis, due this Friday (Aug. 24) on Priority Records. The 7-track project will include his Buddy-assisted single “Favorite” and “Sunken Place.” Elle Varner has lent her jazz cadence to a track titled “Beg.”

Mentored by music legend Babyface, Thomas is also one-half of the production/songwriting duo, The Rascals. They have worked with a variety of stars including Toni Braxton, Ariana Grande and Ty Dolla $ign, among others.

DRAM Puts Brilliant Touch on Outkast’s Classic Song ‘Prototype’

After performing a stripped down version of Outkast’s epic love song “Prototype,” DRAM unleashes the official studio version.

In his own element, the Virginia native makes the poetic track his own, cooing in his matchless raspy rap-sung voice.

“Baby, you are the prototype / Let’s do something out of the ordinary, like catch a matinee,” he sings. “Baby, you are the prototype / I think I’m in love again.”

In July, DRAM released a three-track EP titled That’s a Girls Name. He released a kinky video for “Best Hugs” earlier this month.

Tamia Enlists Wale for ‘Leave It Smokin’ Remix

Tamia teams with rapper Wale for the official remix of her single, “Leave it Smokin’.” The DMV rapper opens the Salaam Remi-produced track describing the fiery chemistry that ignites between him and his special lady.

“It’s a horizontal rain dance whenever we be laid up / Call that brainstorming, foreplay is amazing,” he raps. “Call you Queen, I’m lyin’ in bed / Your body a torch, you a arsonist.”

The original version of “Leave It Smokin'” is burning up the R&B chart. The flaming single (No. 2) has been battling for the No. 1 (“Boo’d Up” by Ella Mai) spot for a couple of weeks on Urban Adult Contemporary radio.

On September 7, Tamia will release her new album, Passion Like Fire. The album will include already released tracks “Deeper,” “Today I Do” and “Leave It Smokin‘.”

Tamia will support Passion Like Fire with a fall tour.
