Lalah Hathaway honestly gets better. The polyphonic vocalist has revised her 2017 album and has enlisted a few heavy-hitters for the new music experience.
The updated version includes a banging verse from veteran MC Redman on the extended remix version of “Call on Me.” Hathaway also included four remixes of the album’s lead single “I Can’t Wait,” with the help of producers Robert Glasper, Teddy Riley and The Twilite Tone.
As an added bonus, the singer dropped a short film to complement the new music. Hathaway mentioned the picture is “an ode to both protest and to self-preservation in a time of struggle.” In the short film, Hathaway is seen in various forms (from Lego to 2-bit to human) as her beautifully husky voice plays in the background.
honestly arrived last November via Hathaway Entertainment/Caroline Distribution. Hathaway created this magical body of work alongside up-and-coming producer Tiffany Gouché.
