Mario is back — again. The Grammy-nominated singer has released his new single “Drowning” as the first offering from his upcoming fifth studio album, Dancing Shadows. The Baltimore native also shared the accompanying visual for the midtempo, emotional track.
Speaking on the R&B/pop-infused track, Mario said, “This song is about being faced with the reality of having multiple women I love for different reasons. One is based on infatuation and lust, and the other is a lingering love connection that has not yet ended. As a man, I’m finding myself drowning in the middle one’s tears and the flow of sexual attraction to the other. As I share a story about highs, lows, and the grey space in between love and lust, fans can expect to feel reconnected to me.”
Set to release this fall on New Citizen/EMPIRE, Dancing Shadows will serve as the follow-up to Mario’s 2009 album, D.N.A. The album included his hit single “Break Up” featuring Gucci Mane and Sean Garrett. The bass-heavy tune peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.
