Mary J. Blige’s acting resume continues to grow. The Oscar nominee will appear on the third season of MTV’s Scream.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blige will star as Sherry Elliott, the mother of the lead character Deion Elliott (RJ Cyler), an Atlanta high school football star. The limited series centers on Deion, whose tragic past comes back to haunt him, threatening both his plans for the future and the live of his friends.
Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty are on board as Scream executive producers for Flavor Unit Entertainment. Brett Matthews, also executive producer, will serve as the series new showrunner.
Previously announced Scream cast members include Keke Palmer, Tyga and C.J. Wallace, to name a few.
Blige has a year of acting commitments. She is starring in Netflix’s comic adaptation series The Umbrella Academy and preparing for her first major acting role in Body Cam.
