Following the narcissistic tribute by Madonna at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, Aretha Franklin will be saluted the right way. BET Networks and Beverly Bond, CEO, founder and creator of Black Girls Rock! will celebrate the Queen of Soul’s that spans over six decades.
According to a press statement, Bond says, “This year we are honoring women who are the Queens of their respective industries and celebrating the memory of our forever Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, who left us with classics and an example of how to take on life with resilience and grace.”
Franklin will be honored in a star-studded tribute. Although the performers for her tribute haven’t been announced, the show’s performance history proves it will be nothing less than amazing.
The 2018 Black Girls Rock! will be taped on Sunday, Aug. 26. The televised special, hosted by mogul Queen Latifah, will air on BET on Sept. 9, 2018 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
