Bibi Bourelly is back. The Def Jam signee shared a new video for her gloomy new song titled “Writer’s Song.”
Opening the doubtful track with the line “I don’t write that well,” Bourelly feeds into her insecurities about creating new music. The nagging electric synths add depth to the short-and-sweet tune.
For the partially-sepia video, Bourelly grabs a bottle of red wine, her notebook and a sharpie to work on this two-minute song. She strikes out several words (and even doodles) until she gets her lyrical content right.
“I wrote ‘Writer’s Song’ when the suits were pressuring me to come up with a radio single,” Bourelly said to Highsnobiety. “I couldn’t think straight and so I just went in the booth and this is what came out. I wrote it in about 10 minutes in New York.”
Even though Bourelly hasn’t officially decided on a project home for “Writer’s Song,” listeners can add it to their playlist.
