Aloe Blacc is adding his own collection to the Christmas agglomeration. The soulful maverick has released Christmas Funk, which features eight original songs and two covers. It comes three years behind his Christmas EP.
A fan of Christmas legends like Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra, Blacc sought to revitalize the holiday carols by adding his own funky spin to the signature yuletide sound. The two covers on this album, “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey and “Last Christmas” by Wham! become entirely different beasts in the hands of Blacc.
Along with fun classics, Blacc penned originals including lead single “I Got Your Christmas Right Here.” According to Blacc, “These new song concepts and stories are my interpretation of the time I spend with family and friends.”
Keeping in mind his agenda to bring “a funky revival” to the holiday spirit, Blacc also unveiled a visual for “I Got Your Christmas Right Here.” The video features tons of jolliness with Blacc dressing up a tree with his adorable family and group of friends.
