For many of us, music is an essential part of celebrating the holiday season. Lion Babe (singer Jillian Hervey and producer Lucas Goodman) lend their musicianship to Segura Viudas, a popular sparkling-wine brand, to spread holiday cheer and unite those across the world in their new Open Up campaign.
For their contribution, Lion Babe revamp holiday classic “Auld Lang Syne.” Their rendition starts off slow with emphasis Hervey’s melodic and sultry vocals and Goodman’s piano skills, but then turns into a mid-tempo joyful and groovy drum-based tune that makes listeners want to dance.
Hervey, the duo’s vocal lead, mentioned “the collaboration came down to conveying messages of gratitude and hope, and we’re excited to be able to share this with the world. ‘Auld Lang Syne’ is such a universal song, it really is the perfect track to unite people for a great cause.”
The festive and interactive campaign is in support of Women in Music, a non-profit dedicated to providing valuable resources to thousands of women at all stages of their music careers.
“We love this campaign because no matter who you are, where you’re from, or what you’re into, music is unifying, especially during the holidays when togetherness is baked into the occasion,” shared Alie Burnet, Brand Manager of Segura Viudas USA. “We wanted to do something that reflects the season’s giving spirit and support an organization like Women in Music, which does such amazing work for the empowerment of women in the music field.”
Segura Viudas promises to donate $25 to Women in Music every time a viewer comments on the video below.
Lion Babe has been quiet after being featured on the season three soundtrack of Issa Rae’s HBO comedy series Insecure with a track titled “Just Me.” The super-duo dropped “The Wave” with Leikeli47 in April.
We’re not too certain what’s next for dynamic pair, but we are excited about what surprises they have up their sleeves for 2019.
