After making a brief yet memorable Tiny Desk appearance with Daniel Caesar earlier this year, it was only right that H.E.R. returned to the NPR office for her own solo set.
Accompanied by a three-man band and two background vocalists, they open the 19-minute episode with H.E.R. front and center on electric guitar for an extended version of “Going (Interlude).”
Before delving deep into the captivating performance, the mysterious singer expressed to the audience, “I’m so excited to be here. This is like a dream come true for me! I feel like Tiny Desk is the best way to experience your favorite artist, not that I’m your favorite artist but maybe me being here says a lot.”
H.E.R. effortlessly eased into “Feel A Way,” followed by “Hard Place” and ended with fan-favorite and her first number one single “Focus” — all while switching between three instruments.
The singer will soon wrap the U.S. leg of her I Used to Know Her Tour. While on the road, H.E.R. received five 2019 Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year for H.E.R.
