Jhené Aiko steps out of music hibernation to muse over a vanished love. Over a lush production, the cathartic poem Aiko calls “Wasted Love Freestyle” speaks on a past relationship that consumed her life. She remembers loving this person before she even knew why.
“You became my life / I never realized / You were my life / Without you by my side / That just don’t feel right,” she reminisces.
The song appears to be the first signs of Aiko moving on from her rumored ex-boyfriend Big Sean. It also could be an early indication for more new music in 2019. She unleashed Trip, her unannounced sophomore album in September 2017.
