Even with no album out, SZA is racking up prestigious honors. Along with her four Grammy nominations for “All the Stars,” with Kendrick Lamar, the two stars earn a Golden Globe consideration for their joint effort.
Lifted from the Black Panther soundtrack, the thumping collaboration takes its rightfully place as a Best Original Song nominee. SZA and Lamar will go up against the likes of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, Dolly Parton, Troye Sivan and Jónsi and Annie Lennox.
Right after receiving the Golden Globe news, SZA took home the “Rule Breaker” award at Billboard’s Women in Music 2018 in New York City. She thanked a number of prominent figures including her Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) President Terrence “Punch” Henderson for “having a heart of gold,” and for not dropping her from the label.
“Thank you for taking the time to have patience to watch someone grow,” she told the ceremony attendees. “It’s painful, and sometimes exciting — but mostly boring.”
If reading and hearing about SZA’s endeavors weren’t exciting enough, the singer teased new music on her Instagram (Dec. 4). From the sounds of it, the dreamy track, which can be heard in snippet from below, is a complete vibe.
